Overhanging trees
In message , Mark
writes Does anyone know the legal situation regarding trees growing on your boundary. I seem to remember that it’s acceptable to cut branches overhanging into your garden. Is this correct? The branches encroaching into your garden are trespassing. You can cut them back and (it would be polite to) offer them back to the owner. It is probably a good long-term idea to talk with your neighbour before doing the pruning so that they have a chance to do it themselves - there was a recent thread in urg in which an owner of a tree thus pruned was unhappy at the way it had been done. -- dave @ stejonda ?why do Americans chatter during West End Theatre performances? |

Helen wrote in message I seem to remember that it’s acceptable to cut branches overhanging into your garden. Is this correct? Think so. Remember you've got to offer the branches back to the owner as well.... That's my understanding too, and it is better to talk to your neighbour first and explain what you want to do etc.... Not that that's always possible! -- Bob www.pooleygreengrowers.org.uk/ about an Allotment site in Runnymede fighting for it's existence. |
