Default Cutting Garden in the shade?

'Morning again, sorry, second question: can I make a cutting garden in the shade?

I have always thought that a cutting bed needs full sun, but the only place I have is going to be tucked closely behind a lowish hedge (about 4' tall) and unfortunately on the northern side of it.

I was wondering if this would make the flowers grow tall, straight stems in order to get to the light? And if so, this might be a good thing, possibly?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

Rachel
