2) do you have cookies enabled? 3) do you have 'clear cookies on closing the browser' set? It may be a non option in google chrome, I use SRWare Iron as it's the same program but without the bits that reports all your surfing habits etc back to google, I use FireFox as well. |

In case you haven't picked it up, from January, Microsoft will start silently updating Internet Explorer to the latest version - this isn't security updates, it's updating IE7, say, to IE9. More info he http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16214912. It may be an issue for some people. I use Chrome most of the time but I've found, e.g., that IE is more reliable when I'm doing my online tax return, provided I use IE7. IE8 and IE9 don't work. If you haven't upgraded your operating system to at least Windows Vista, you'll not get IE9. David and I've read elsewhere that it will IE8 alone. -- hugh |

David But you will get IE8 with XP and IE8 doesn't work for me with Inland Revenue web site (among others). I've also experienced a raft of PDF problems with IE8 (and 9). I'm now stuck on IE7 as it's the only one that reliably works when Chrome won't - major issue with Chrome is with copy and paste. Cheers, Jake ======================================= Urgling (after the great storm) from the usually dryer (east) end of Swansea Bay. Works OK for me on HMRC but I do come across others from time to time where it goes into a processor loop - then I use Safari -- hugh |

If you stick with WinXP your old PC and your old peripherals will still work. Absolutely! I haven't upgraded from XP because I have HP printers and, despite what HP assure me, that their new drivers for Vista and 7 are fully featured, they are not! I can't upgrade two old working Dell WinXP PCs because it isn't possible to put enough memory in them Have you searched on the internet to see if anyone has managed to modify another Canon scanner driver so that it will work with your scanner under Win7? Yes. I found many other people who had the same problem and an explanation from Canon, that modifying their scanner was trivial but Microsoft's fees for licensing their updated driver weren't What model scanner are you referring to? -- Jeff |

LIDE 30 There is a Win7 driver for LIDE 70 Have you tried installing the Lide 25 or Lide 60 Win7x64 drivers/software and seeing if those work with your Lide 30? It may be that you can modify the driver file of the Lide 25. Someone in this thread appears to know how to get the Lide 20 to work with the 25 driver: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...a-4d426d7cee9e But you will have to know the correct PID number for the Lide 30 (available in the *.inf file you have in your old XP setup, perhaps). But I am getting way out of my depth - the Epson driver mods were spelt out clearly for me - even the correct PID was supplied. Still, it can't do any harm to your current setup - it just will continue to not work! VueScan supports Win7 obsolete scanners including LIDE30, but not free. Yes, I have tried Vuescan. Worked with the Epson scanner, but of course leaves a watermark until you purchase it. -- Jeff |
