Default Please say its possible to eat daffodils

Just to prove Sainsburys wrong.

On the label of a bunch of their daffodils it says
"Do Not Eat".

It is certainly _possible_ to eat daffodils, but not advisable. They are
poisonous.

I love the way it says Complications.... Death, then adds...and more
complications. Are there any more after death?

You can eat them but it is certainly not advisable. They do contain a
reasonably potent toxic alkaloid called lycorin. I don't think it is
quite as deadly as some of its neighbours in this online guide.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycorine

It is mainly a problem if you mistake daffodil bulbs for onions.

Quite a few members of Amaryllidaceae express the same toxin to a
greater or lesser extent.

I expect if you had purchased a decorative Allium, it might say the same. And that would probably be because it had been sprayed with some antifungal chemical or something.

In article , ] says...

Just to prove Sainsburys wrong.

On the label of a bunch of their daffodils it says
"Do Not Eat".

They missed the Unique Selling Point, which should be "Nothing will
eat daffodils !!!" because they are so poisonous.

Ideal if you have sheep, cattle, horses, goats etc at large in the
garden.
