Default Plant Identification required, please

Hi all,

Could somebody please identify this plant for me? I have placed an image on my web space:
http://www.btinternet.com/~bananaland/test/DSC01124.JPG
380 KB

The plant has wire, spring-like, shoots that wrap around anything that is near.

There is one particular reason that I enquire about this plant and that is I want to grow
some kind of creeping plant over wrought iron, that is north-facing with no direct
sunlight.

I live in a private apartment block and the landing where any plant might be placed, is
quite bright but never has any direct sunlight.

In the winter, although there never seems to be any frost on the landing, I would like to
have some kind of plant that would creep over the iron work outside my door that would
tolerate reasonable temperatures (winter/summer).

Any info on the picture and whether it would be a decent candidate for my situation would
be greatly welcomed.

I will take some shots of the landing on request for people to see where any plant would
be placed.

Thank you,

Paul.

Without some indication of scale (size of flower or leaflet), a
positive ID might be difficult. But it could be the common vetch
(vicia sativa) which is a wild native species. It dies back in winter.

The flowers are only about 10mm wide at the moment. I think they have just come out.

I threw some Sweet Pea seeds in that area around Feb/March time and am wondering if that
is them? I know they should have been planted properly but where I live, the gardens are
taken care of by a contracted company.

My apologies for the blurred picture.

Hi,
I went out and had a look at my 'everlasting' sweet pea and it has two
big leaves emerging from the stem bracts. That was what made me
suggest the vetch which does have 4 to 8 leaflets each terminated with
a tiny 'spike' and the slightly downy appearance which shows up on the
image. Also a 10mm wide flower would link up with the wild vetch. The
Sweet pea flower might average about 40mm, with show varieties even
bigger.
:-) You are just going to have to give it its head this year and see
what transpires.
