Bees nesting in a flower tub
Hi
I have a large plastic tub that I moved a load of spring bulbs into when the garden was being dug up several years ago and I ended up just keeping it as a spring bulb tub. This year I have found that there are bees nesting in it! I've seen several rusty coloured smallish bumble-type bees (bigger than mason bees) crawling in from the top of the pot and if the pot is jostled a ferocious buzzing starts up (that's how I found out in the first place). Could these be some kind of carder bee? I assume they're safe to have there and won't become aggressive. I'd love to know what kind they are and if anyone else has them? Thanks. -- Lynda Thornton |
