Default Bulb Storage

A few weeks ago I dug up my spring bulbs and put them in pots so that they
could rot down. Now that the leaves are dead, should I just leave the bulbs
potted in soil until replanting time, or should I wash off the soil and
store away in bags?

Thanks.
