Default Bay Tree Probs

Help - I have two lolipop Bays about 5' tall in containers. They are fed and
watered regularly and never dry out. They look perfectly healthy EXCEPT the
bark is splitting and peeling.
What's wrong?
Any cure?
Help!!!

Could they just be growing? As the trunk gains in diameter, something
