Default good plants (in pots) for very hot south facing patio

im looking for a plant that likes it hot! something that is striking, frost
proof, and doesnt mind drying out a bit as my patio is a south facing sun
trap and gets very hot! Suggestions?

One of the large Aloe's or similar? Might need to be tucked up near the
house in the winter to avoid too much wet but if dry will take some cold,
ours stay out all the time and the only time they get damaged is if they get
wet and then it freezes.
