Help please.

My courtyard stones are being lifted by the roots of a very old wisteria.

Will it kill or harm the wisteria if I raise the lifted stones and slice off
half the thickness of the root so that the stones will lie flat again?

Any help on this would be welcome.

I think you'ld let a lot of disease in that way. You'ld be better off
removing the whole of any offending roots. I'm sure there would be enough
deeper roots to keep the plant alive although you should probably wait until
later in the year. Mine is still growing at the moment.
