Can i upload pictures to this group.
I've recently bought a lovely new home where the previous owners were keen
gardners and i'm not able to tell anyone what i have, so i can ask advice about the various plants and shrubs. What i would like to do is take some pictues and upload them to first find out what plants and shurbs are in the garden. Then clearly would be looking for advice on how best to look after them. I just don't want to break any taboos by just uploading photos. Is it ok? Rob |

There are some sites where you can do this for free, but someone else will need to tell you where those are! Pictures take up much more room than text, and will cause premature expiry of discussion messages, among other matters. Also, some news servers will simply drop binaries on the floor when found in discussion groups. Important general point: the strictures of so-called "netiquette" all have very good reasons behind them; they are never arbitrary rules dreamt up by boffins, even if those reasons are not necessarily obvious. Follow netiquette to improve your communication via email and newsgroups; disregard netiquette, and diminish your ability to communicate on-line. -- Rodger Whitlock Victoria, British Columbia, Canada change "invalid" to "net" to respond |

It is not just that the urglers don't like it. Most of the ISP's simply snip all attachments from contributions to newsgroup mail. Franz |

Post to the news group alt.binaries.pictures.gardens not that all of us can see them when you do that :-) Some newsreaders download all new postings to newsgroups subscribed to. A binary group can take hours (literally) to download, so very few (if any) people with such readers will bother to look. It's always better to put pics on a website. -- Rusty Hinge horrid·squeak&zetnet·co·uk http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/tqt.htm |
