Unknown plant
I've been growing a rather strange plant for a few years now and despite my
best attempts I have been unable to identify it. I would be most grateful if the members of this group would consider examining a couple of photos I have on the site below. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone would like a cutting I would be happy to provide such for the cost of postage. |

If anyone would like a cutting I would be happy to provide such for the cost of postage. It's an Epiphyllum, a tropical forest cactus that grows up in the branches of trees in S. America. There are a couple of species that have scented flowers, the white and night flowering ones (to attract moths). E. gertrudeanus is one, but that's not your plant. Possibilities are E. cooperi or E.crenatum . However, there are hundreds of hybrids available from specialist nurseries and these come in colours in all shades from white to purple to yellow to deep red some have two colours. Most don't smell though. My Favourite has to be "Mrs Beardsley", a pure solid orange, although "Jennifer Ann" a free flowering yellow is nice, easy too. I have a number of named varieties and E. gertrudianus if you want some cuttings (remember they do take up a lot of room when grown) or I also have a fruit which is nearly ripe if you would like to grow some from seed. No idea what you would get though, but then that's half the fun. -- Regards Bob Use a useful Screen Saver... http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ and find intelligent life amongst the stars 368 data units completed. |

The message

I would be most grateful if the members of this group would consider examining a couple of photos I have on the site below. Any help would be appreciated. I'd suggest you put thumbnail jpegs on the page as links to larger jpegs. The page was taking so long to load that I just cut the connection. My apologies. I've reduced the file size of the photos now considerably.

The plants are beautiful, by the way - well done :-) Chris S "Jaques d'Alltrades" wrote in message ...
