removing grass from veg patch

writes Hi all, thanks for the continued replies. Assuming that I have just 'grass' with no pernicious weeds is it ok just to dig the whole lot over to create beds and then weed regularly as I go without lifting the turf. You won't find it as easy as it sounds as you always end up with bits of grass poking up from the edges and they always GROW ( I would use the doubleDigAndPutSodUpsideDownInBottomOfHole approach. -- Jane Ransom in Lancaster. I won't respond to private emails that are on topic for urg but if you need to email me for any other reason, put ransoms at jandg dot demon dot co dot uk where you see |

In fact the other weeds will be less of a problem than the grasses. Keep the hoe moving and don't let unwanted plants develop to any size, especially don't let them seed. The job will become easier each year, but there will always be some self invited greenery on your patch. -- Alan & Joan Gould - North Lincs. |
