Default First early potato's

The message
from "Dan Keeley" contains these words:

Plant them (traditionally) on Good Friday - depending on where in the
country you are.

Ok thanks I will hold off for a short while

however good friday seens late - maincrop maybe, but not earlies - surely
thats the point of them!?

I'm also down south which gives me a couple of weeks leeway too.

Well, I'd wait until mid March, and if cold weather seems likely, cover
them with straw, fleece, and/or polythene sheet.

Or cloches.

but Good Friday is a movable feast. I think you'll have to do better
than that.

Yes, but governed by the phase of the moon, which will be approaching
full. I don't know exactly *HOW* the moon can affect the weather, but it
seems to.
