Or should it be bloody squirrels, I've got walnuts coming up all
over the place, it's happened before but I can't remember it
being on this scale.

Possibly the worst one is the one in the middle of the strawberry
bed, can't get it out without damaging the strawberries!

leave it till you've harvested the strawberries. Then you can replant
the strawberry plants without harm to this year's fruit.

Do you think there's a market for young walnut trees? Worth a try.

Don't know why, but if asked for my favourite tree, I'd reply walnut (-:

Cheap is a relative term. My son lives in London and has been quoted over
£500 for 4 bay 'lollipops', compost and labour.

Can I assume that £500 each? Sounds cheap for the taller ones.

No, that is for four 3'-4' lolli bays. We think it absolutely outrageous!
£500 each - in which parallel universe!? We're hacking suckers off the
things out of our garden every year. If we lived in London we'd be
millionaires on the strength of those alone. ;-(

Mine was quite a while back, but this is being a REALLY weird year.
The lack of any really cold weather, combined with alternating
spells of warm and cold, have meant that it is simultaneously one
of the earliest and latest years I have ever seen, and things that
normally occur in one order have occurred in the other.

This absolutely matches my observations for the year so far. I'm in
Kent.

Same here (Isle of Arran).

Here we go gathering nuts in May.....

So - anyone want to swap a walnut tree or two for some Feverfew?

Would you like a walnut?

I was going to send this via email, but you have't given a valid email
address!

Don't know about him but I'd love a walnut tree, any easy way to ship a
small walnut seedling with it getting totally trashed.

Ever thought about Bonsai ?, dig them up put them in tiny pots and grow them
of for a couple of years, they'll be worth their weight in gold I tell's ya.
he he. Seriously though I have simialr problems with Sycamore trees, and
believe me I'd rather they were walnuts. I do now have several Sycamore
bonsai's, one very nice little 5 year old 1 foot high tree in a pot.
