Very good and wise information in my opinion.

Here's some even better. That post had four screens of unedited,
irrelevent material for readers to scroll through before your one-liner
contribution. If you make a habit of that, very few people will bother
to open posts from you, and you will effectively be talking only to
yourself.

I've stopped bothering already.

But you haven't - have you- you've had your say and good luck to you.
With a moniker like yours it's about time you took an oilcan to the hinges
of that gate with the horrid. squeak.
Wot's a foobar?.... (Local dialect?).

I have three or four Acers, all quite small. A fiver each at B&Q's.

When
they reach medium large size they'll be chucked. I haven't the room. Not

to
worry I have a few cuttings developing slowly to take their places, - if

I
survive long enough.

Douglas, Did you note the size of the tree? Must have been more than

twenty years old. Of that size and age it has probably been a feature in a
number of shows but has now outgrown its use. But more seriously~ have

you
really managed to strike cuttings? I had access to every possible means of
propagation, but never attempted, as grafting was stated to be the only
method possible.
Even species were understood to be only possible from seeds.
Best Wishes Brian.

Brian, m'dear chap! .
If I have something that's done its biz and outgrown its usefulness I give
it away or chuck it!!
Anyroad up,- about the cuttings. I am so mooed up in my garden and
greenhouses I can't remenber what's what. am also looking after a very sick
person so though I do my best my affairs are a bit dodgy just now,. So
please bear with me when I say, in the face of your evidence I ask your
indulgence for me to withdraw from the cuttings striking forum as I haven;t
time to look anything up and I don't want to lead anyone astray when I am
not quite sure of my facts.
The four Acers are in separate pots on the front patio. I have done a sweep
and can't find any other than the larger ones I have.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused!. You were absolutely correct to
question the veracty of rooting Acer cuttings.
Best wishes!.
Doug.

Each to his own. I also don't like people who use up precious space and
gigahertzes, or those who keep printing 's in a long line down the left
margin in their script, when they print nothing, - no script, - on the line
especially just as they sign off, - nobody does that when 'penning' a
letter, it is discourteous and very bad practice.
Complain rather, about those who top-post, - against the conventions as
stated in the original protocols.. When I open a current thread I want the
whole debate to be there so that I can read it at once, or recapitulate to
understand the thread. It is nonsense elsewise. I can scroll up and down in
three seconds, or use Next, - no bother.
Any that are chopped up by snippers, when I have not seen the previous
opinions, I simply close and move on. And the same for those who ignore the
topic under discussion and have nothing to add for the symposium. This page
is a typical example
I could have answered two letters on alt.music clarinet in the precious time
I have wasted here.
Have you a gardening topic to discuss, by the way?.
Doug.

Erm.. since when does general information on after care of expensive trees
become irrelevant?

When we've already had a chance to read it?

Doug,

Thank you. That was a most courtious answer.
I hope your patient improves~ I do know what a strain it can be ~ and
what a bit of light relief this urg can bring during breaks!!.
If only there were flowers 'Computeraceae' I would get to understand them
and the related jargon. As it is, I just wonder, after every essay, which
lady poster is going to jump at me!!
Best wishes and hope all goes well.

Yes, he has stopped reading your posts; but he does read mine and was
replying to me.

No point asking him questions, he's just told you he doesn't bother
opening posts from you.
