The R.S.P.C.A.'s policy on angling
The R.S.P.C.A.'s policy on angling
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals is one of the biggest and most well-known animal welfare groups in Britain. As can be seen from the following extracts of their policy on animal welfare, they come out strongly against angling. "The RSPCA is opposed to the infliction of pain and suffering on any animal in the name of sport." "2.1. The report of the Panel of Enquiry into Shooting and Angling (the Medway Report) has proved to the satisfaction of the RSPCA that fish are capable of experiencing pain and suffering. 2.2. The RSPCA believes that current practices in angling do involve the infliction of pain and suffering on fish." RSPCA Policies on Animal Welfa Bloodsports, 1991. * Back to index * More articles Pisces BM FISH, LONDON, WC1N 3XX Tel: 01792 464 176 Web http://www.pisces.demon.co.u Cheerio, |

The R.S.P.C.A.'s policy on angling
If you have ever caught a fish and felt the pull they give whilst being
hooked in the lip you'd have to ask yourself, this can't hurt it that much otherwise it wouldn't pull so hard. I'm sure if someone grabbed me by the lip and wanted to lead me somewhere I would make sure I came in as quick as possible. And yes I understand that instinct will tell you to run the other way but if it's painfull then you have no choice, like when police officers are taught to restrain someone and guide them where they want them to walk by using controlled pain. The ultimate example is, if some one was to grab a man by the ********, then I'll guarentee he will gladly go where ever he is led. This leads me to believe that if the fish does feel something as I'm sure it does, it would probably be the same sensation as someone trying to drag me off whilst keeping a tight grip on my hand, that way I certainly would fight as hard as I could to escape without any real pain. -- Regards p.mc For personal replies please leave or type signature "p.mc" In the body of the message otherwise posts will not be received. I'm sure you would struggle real hard if you thought your life depended on it. That's besides the point, why on earth subject a lovely, defenseless creature to that anyway? =============== Yes, why would you? Why the concern for what others do and the total lack of concern of your own bloody footprints, killer? "...Food processing and kindred operations were indicted as the cause of death of over 6.5 million fish in one case in Iowa..." "...Steam generation of electricity is estimated to have caused up to 179 million fish deaths annually through entrainment at one plant in Connecticut, and up to 20 million per day at another. Annual losses at a New Jersey plant have been estimated at 150 million eggs and 100 million larvae of 24 species..." http://www.fisheries.org/html/Public...nts/ps_2.shtml So, if you are really concerned about lessening the number of fish killed, I suggest you get up off your lard-butt, get rid of your computer, turn off the A/C, and take up fishing. Not only will giving up some electric useage, will you stop contributing to the ever increasing demand for more power, you will replace many of the bloody veggies calories with those of fresh fish. Of course, we already know that saving animals is of no concern to you, all you want is to be able to spew your hate and demonize others, right hypocrite? |
