Default Golden Yew

Hello All,

In my Mothers garden is a beautiful golden yew, or more like a pale
green one, and her house is to be sold, and I would like to take cuttings.

I last winter I took some cuttings which I put in the soil. Most are
still green, but none show any sign of rooting.

Has anyone advice on how I could propagate this yew. It appears to be a
male, (it produces masses of pollen bearing flowers), so does not
produce fruits.

Thank you

My favourite method has always been 15cm long cuttings of current seasons
growth inserted in a cold frame in the Autumn, but worth a try at any time,
I have certainly got them to root from February cuttings, expect them to
take between 6-9 months to root. they are not a lot quicker in a mist unit.

If there are thin branches very close to the ground would it be possible to
propagate by layering?
