Question Lily of the Valley 'Pips' planting advice

I bought some Lily of the Valley bulbs from my garden centre. But I'm not sure I've planted them in the right way! They had what looks like lots of roots and some fleshy white shoot like things (with what looked like unfurled leaves on a couple of them).

First I planted them with the roots in the ground and the fleshy bits sticking out. Then I looked on the Internet and it said that these are rhizomes with 'pips' on them, from which the plant grows. So I've now buried the whole lot in the soil!

Does anyone know if this is right?

Thanks!

Zoe
