electric lawn mowers?
g'day claude,
yes mate a popular misconception used by manufacturers and others to sell product there is also the bit that there is far more plastic used in the electric mowers than other mowers and with the battery models what about disposal of the battery? and the pollution caused by power stations is dumped on land that is used to grow our food, the out of sight out of mind concept applies. snipped With peace and brightest of blessings, len -- "Be Content With What You Have And May You Find Serenity and Tranquillity In A World That You May Not Understand." http://www.users.bigpond.com/gardenlen1 |

electric lawn mowers?

woods wrote that would be the www.enviromower.com.au also heard good things about it. Hmmmm......Is it as environmentally friendly as they claim? It requires recharging by mains electricity which in Australia is generated by burning coal. In Victoria, the green house gas emissions from electricity (generated from brown coal) are much greater than those from the transport sector. Probably no better environmentally than a petrol mower and perhaps worse. Unlikely given how crude small petrol motors are environmentally. The environmentally superior alternative is a push mower or, better, a native garden that needs neither cutting nor watering. Indeed, I didnt even bother to water mine thru the worst drought in living memory. Amazing how well it did with no water at all. |
