Which Line trimmer/whipper Snipper?
Hi,
I am looking at purchasing my first line trimmer. I only have a small yard which has relatively easy access and is level and not rocky. My main use for the trrimmer is edging along paths and along the fence and garden walls. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of any links with trimmer reviews? I havn't decided on electric or petrol trimmers as yet. I have heard that electric ones burn out fairly quickly. Thanks. |

g'day panda,
well it's no good talking big stuff to you then hey chuckle, if i had to buy one of those light duty bent shaft ones i reckon i wouldn't go past sthil. buy from a reputable indipendant mower garden machinery shop if there are others that are worth looking at they will direct you that way. whatever don't buy on price buy quality. look at engine sizes around 19+cc. len On Sun, 24 Aug 2003 23:32:06 GMT, "PandA" wrote: snipped -- happy gardening 'it works for me it could work for you,' "in the end ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do" but consider others and the environment http://hub.dataline.net.au/~gardnlen/ |

Len,
Thanks for that, I also checked your website. Very informative. I have also been recomended a stihl by my father in-law. He's had it 15yrs, with it only requiring a professional service once. Do you have any comments regarding electric trimmers? is a top end electric comparable with a lower/middle range petrol? g'day panda,
if you go for electric and want quality then it will need to be the top end, a bit hard to compare between the 2 realy, in the long run an electric won't last as long as a good petrol model, but then if you buy a lower end petrol model they don't last long along with being unreliable and hard to start. i generally recommend the straight shaft models of the petrol engine models and usually engine capacity not below around 22cc, in the end it comes down to brands the more common known brands are the hype models their the names on every ones lips, like you think mowers you think victas etc.,. and they can convert people by selling large capacity models cheaper than the better brands, a trap for the unwary. have a good look around your independent mower shops you will get heaps of good info' most of the time. len On Mon, 25 Aug 2003 03:02:18 GMT, "PandA" wrote: snipped -- happy gardening 'it works for me it could work for you,' "in the end ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do" but consider others and the environment http://hub.dataline.net.au/~gardnlen/ |
