Default [IBC] Japanese Black Pine & Winter

I have very recently acquired a Japanese Black Pine (Pinus Thumbergi).
I am in Zone 4-5. I typically winter all of my outdoor trees in an
unheated detached garage, except for a few of the less hardy guys that
go to the unheated (but slightly warmer) basement.

The unheated garage gets a little light, but not much, stays very cold
and does get a blast of fresh air twice or more a day when the garage
door is opened.

My question is where should I winter the Black Pine. I would be
thinking definitely the garage since I know they are very cold hearty,
however I did read that they do not like to be kept indoors at all,
winter or summer. I'm not sure I'd count the detached garage as indoor
but I wanted some opinions.

Thanks,
wmcorcor
