hi, for christmas i received the above named bonsai, but it came with very
little instuctions. I am told it is about 18 yrs old, it has small green
leaves and buds and lots of moss covering the soil it looks very healthy but
the leaves appear to be falling of. I water it once a week and mist it
daily, i also pinch out or cut back new growth to 2 leaves, am i caring for
it correctly?

From what I've been able to find on the schneidria it is treated the
same as any other zelkova - it is a temperate climate tree that is
best left outside most of the time and requires a dormant period. I
would guess from this that the leaves falling off this time of year in
the UK is normal . You will find tons of information on care of
zelkova's in the archives, including information about watering using
the "Persiano pick" method of determining if you need to water.
