Default [IBC] Chinese Hackberry borers followup

I probed with a wire, some of the holes go in about 1/2 inch, others less. I
can't tell if any turn.
If I used a hypo needle to inject malathion, would that help?

or

does the sawdust mean the bugs have hatched and left?
