Do you mean as in a magician saying, "Abacadabbra... VOILA!"? It's
supposed to be "vwalla" but the v is so gutteral it's almost not there.
Listen to the pronounciations here. You can barely catch the V.

Always wondered whether they thought it referred to the plant or the
musical instrument?? And what did either one have to do with anything?
Or did they even think........

"Walla" can be explained as follows.

If we (Americans) were to approximate the real word "voila", we could
write "v-walla", so they're just leaving off the "v".

Its always made me think that they thought they were writing it the
way it would sound if it was a latin word. [at least the way I was
taught to speak latin] I've never heard anyone pronounce it that
way. [lived in Northeast US most of life]

Cute kids but they were wrong. It's pronounced "bow-coo" with the same
em-pha-sis on each syl-a-bleh, Saint Cloud, ball-de match;)
