Lawn sprinkler again
Still looking for a lawn sprinkler or two. In the backyard , we have a
medium/large lawn and also a row of flowers; need to avoid spraying a walkway as well as neighbors' property. Looking at a few choices--- 1. For the backyard, these two oscillating types seem well rated: http://www.amazon.com/Gardena-Aquazo...ler-31979-6/dp /B00004SDXU/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-4830807-3392908?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1184093587 &sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Gardena-36965-...004SDYR/ref=pd _bbs_2/102-4830807-3392908?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1184093587&sr=8-2 Any experience with them? 2. The following seems to be well rated, but I am not sure if "pulsating" means the stream will be too powerful and damage the flowers? http://amazon.com/o/ASIN/B00004SDYT/...966_g1/102-483 0807-3392908?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=16QZV1CW0395 ETQK09HN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=278240301&pf_rd_i=507 846 3. The oscillators may be too big for the front garden? Also not sure if I want to leave them in the parkway to be stolen (Chicago, after all). This is small and can be placed in tight spots or in the front : http://amazon.com/o/ASIN/B0009NERWA/...966_g1/102-483 0807-3392908?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=16QZV1CW0395 ETQK09HN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=278240301&pf_rd_i=507 846 The following would serve the same purpose, but has bad review about uniformity of watering: http://amazon.com/o/ASIN/B0000BYC6C/...966_g1/102-483 0807-3392908?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=16QZV1CW0395 ETQK09HN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=278240301&pf_rd_i=507 846 So here is a more expensive one with no reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Turret-Sprinkl...sr_1_1/102-483 0807-3392908?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1184093543&sr=8-1 Appreciate all comments from all experienced hands! |

I would put ice cubes in a specific pattern out in the morning. The heat of the day will melt them and water where you need it. |

According to the drug companies, extended release (under several names) is newly patentable for every different use. I can see it now, "Nelson Lawn Irrigating Ice Cube Trays, Patent Applied For". After that patent expires comes an additive to slow the melt rate so the ice cubes can last all day. |

I can think of additives that will lower the melting point, but I can't think of any that raise it. Kurt Vonnegut's "ice nine" would be usefull here but I don't remember the melting temperature. I just remember it was soild at room temperature. Maybe we could come up with a portable hammock lined with "slow release" ice cube trays as a way to water larger areas. Heck, Joe, Charlie, and I could start a ecologically friendly lawn watering service powered by beer. By golly, I think we're on to something he-) -- Billy http://angryarab.blogspot.com/ |
