Saving my Ivy (Hedera Helix)
I have an Ivy in my flat, but I am not sure which variety it is. I'll
provide some photos of its miserable state he http://verture.net/img/ivy/ It has been growing happily up until now, where it has been without regular watering for a week. I watered it just before I left for a weeks break, and when I came back it looked like on the pictures. The soil is moist, which I thought where the optimal thing for Hederas. The plant is about 2 months old, approximately, and was given to me by a special friend, which is why I am trying to save it. Any ideas about what to do to save it? Should I replant it with some fresh soil? Should I just give it up? -- | Jonas @ 55.75, 12.42 | http://verture.net/ | "This must be a Thursday,' said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer. Let the soil become dry to the touch between waterings, and keep it out of direct sun; it may come back . . . ivy is pretty hardy. How hot did it get whilst you were away; that ivy looks cooked. It did get very hot. I am in Copenhagen, Denmark. We had a very hot summer, day temperatures around 30 degrees in, and the Ivy has been in my windowsill exposed to midday sun, the hottest of its kind. So I might have overwatered it before I left, and then it got cooked while I was away. Sounds very reasonable. It is still moist to wet in the soil, and I've only watered it once after I came back. Let the soil become dry to the touch between waterings, and keep it out of direct sun; it may come back . . . ivy is pretty hardy. I have now placed it out of its pot, and in the light but out of the sun. I truly appreciate your answer, I hope it comes back. -- | Jonas @ 55.75, 12.42 | http://verture.net/ | "The ability to enslave a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Macintosh" - Darth Vader |

It will tolerate sun very well when established outside. But not in a little pot;-) Good luck. // Jim |
