Dogs -v- Lawn
Help! Am a new dog owner. have 3 postage size lawns in garden which
they have trashed! They have created their own racetrack circuit around the garden. Is there a special grass I could buy that would wear better or will the bare pathways grow back? Don't want to stop their fun but love my garden as well!! |

Dogs -v- Lawn
My neighbor's dog is obsessed with my dogs and runs up and down the property
line following their activities. She has tried numerous things to stop her, with no luck. The dog goes over or under or through all the barriers and plants she's put in its way. Let your dogs have their runway. If you try to alter their path you'll only increase the damage. Pave, gravel or mulch the path to help with muddy paws. Maybe you could plant in the spots outside the path. karen "Maria" wrote in message om... Help! Am a new dog owner. have 3 postage size lawns in garden which they have trashed! fence the area you want em to go in. that is what I did for my 6 dogs and I have a
25' x 25' back yard ... in the area they arent allowed I have a koi pond, 2 raised beds, a little greenhouse to sit in, and room for a lotus pond this year, and a central area for seating. Is there a special grass I could buy that would wear better or will the bare pathways grow back? Don't want to stop their fun but love my garden as well!! This sounds as though your dogs spend all of their time outside in the yard and are bored. A bored dog doesn't have anything better to do than to destroy his surroundings. The solution to this is to keep your dogs indoors, and take them to obedience training, and give them structured vigorous exercise. Don't place them in the yard unsupervised either. When they are in the yard, you are either with them playing with them or with them supervising their "going". If you exercise your dog vigorously before you leave for work each day and then kennel them indoors until your return and then have additional supervised play time, then they will not be bored and your lawn will be in better shape. You'll NEVER have a perfect green carpet again though, but you CAN have some "lawn". Daily pooperscooping also goes with this as well. |
