Default Puple Fountain Grass Hardiness

Hello gardeners,
I purchased an ornamental Purple Fountain Grass this spring... I love it --
it's striking. I've have had so many compliments and questions about it that
I thought I'd beter do some research on it. I want to overwinter it and
pass-on info gleaned here and there to my curious friends. I came here to
get some personal views, opinions, experience.

From what I've read so far this spieces is considered a perenial in zone 8+
and an annual below that (I'm a newbie gardener so I could be wrong).
I believe I live in a zone 6-8 (Vancouver Canada, Pacific Northwest -- North
Burnaby in particular).

My questions a
How can I overwinter this plant in my location?
Is overwintering a realistic objective in my location?
And, if this plant can survive in my location can I dived it to share with
friends next spring?

Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have used it as an annual in Georgia for 10 years and never had one live
past the first frost, and we have very mild winter compared to yours.I have a
large one now that looks great but it soon will be replaced by pansies, which
do well over the winter.
