Local source for purchasing Ladybugs
Someone here posted recently about purchasing ladybugs locally. I'd be
interested in finding a local supplier if anyone knows of one and I'd be interested in knowing if they stuck around after being released. Thanks, Robert |

When ladybugs hatch they are larvae with no wings and an insatiable appetite. Therefore, they don't fly anywhere - at least until after they have matured and pupated. Before then, they will have eaten a ton of aphids. Some of the adults may fly away but they won't all leave as long as there is food for them. Incidentally, the larvae eat more aphids than the adults do - and those are the guys (and gals) without wings. Go for it, I say. You could try green lacewings too. -- Gerry www.garden-guide.net .... for responsible gardening |

Local source for purchasing Ladybugs
I had asked about a month ago and gotten many different responses. I finally
settled on Atlantic Avenue Garden Center. I had also gotten a little habitat for them and Lady Bug Pheromone to "spike" up the area around it.. Some have my ladies have flown, but many have stayed. (And I have no aphids on my roses) Jo "Gerry" wrote in message ... : wrote in message : . .. : save your money : : When ladybugs hatch the 1st thing they do is fly up to 1 mile : from where : they were born. : : This is a natural instinct since predators wait for the hatch : : tomatolord : : : : Cobblers! : When ladybugs hatch they are larvae with no wings and an : insatiable appetite. : Therefore, they don't fly anywhere - at least until after they : have matured : and pupated.
