There is this amusing commentary on neofinetia and SH...

But it doesn't sound like you're east of the mississippi and south of the
msaon dixon line...

negitive, the GREAT FAR NORTH
sounds like Neos are touchy about what they put their feet in.

I've had a neotfinetia falcata in S/H for several years. It's a healthy
plant but real small. It hasn't bloomed yet. A local expert says it
needs a cooler environment than I've been giving it and a definite
period of cooling in the fall.

By conrast, my Brassavola nodosa has been in S/H for several years, and
it blooms its head off. Currently, it's in the biggest pot that Ray
sells and has filled it up. The next pot will be a bucket, I guess.
Brassavola crosses do well in S/H too--better than in regular media.

I've had good luck with S/H for everything but Phals. If they "catch"
they do fine but tend to have a lot of Medusa-esque aerial roots.

Jack,

When the Neofinetia falcata blooms then take it to bed with you at night.
Put it on a table in the room and you will have sweet dreams.

Thanks, have to get it in first
I was wondering if it is more touchy as a cooler grower, as I have
mostly phals and cats

I have two pots of Little Stars in S/H, and they're doing well. I seem to
have a knack for killing Neofinetia in any medium!

everyone seems to have a "knack" for killing neos, are they that tricky
(if so I should learn to mass grow them, as the saying goes "there
wouldn't be orchid growers if there weren't orchid killers")

I've seen pictures of the flowers, just kinda suprised by the small
size of the plant.
