Default Went to the store...

... And they had so many orchids to choose from.. I went with one particular
in mind which they didn't have.. I was just about to buy another kind (can't
remember its Latin name) but it was a moth orchid, if that means anything..
It had a very pretty flower, totally and absolutely white, with a little
tiny bit of yellow in the center of it.. And three or four more were about
to bloom..
I liked the idea of it not requiring very much light.. Though the
ventilation might provide a problem, unless I get a little fan of some sort.

But.. I really wanted an orchid with a fragrance.. I'm not sure where else
to look for it..
Mornington is about 3 1/2 to 4 hours away from me.. But if that's what's
going to take, I'll be driving there tomorrow morning.. Hopefully will find
something there..

The price at the nursery varied from orchid to orchid, but the most
expensive one was around AU$44, most of them in the $25-30 mark.

I'm really hoping to find something that I'll like..
Are scented orchids hard to find?
I know they're out there.. But I checked every single flower in the nursery
(they had about 50 different types).. And none of them had any distinctive
smell..

Some are scented in the day and some at night. So take direct
sun to release the scent, others have different requirements.
Many are NOT scented. It used to be common for florists to
insert a sachet behind the flower of the corsage in the fru-fru
and bow.

Have you been to Garden World south of Springvale? It's on Springvale
Rd a few km on south of the shopping centre. Their address should be
in the yellow pages and, from memory, the location is also marked in
the Melb street directory. It's probably the biggest orchid nursery in
Vic., and they have a show on the weekend 16-17 Aug. You could easily
spend hours there looking at orchids.
Fragrance orchids? Try Osmoglossum puchellum, they should be available
there.

Have fun.
