Is there going to be a Fort Pierce orchid show this month still? I live
in Vero Beach and was fortunate enough not to have any serious damage or
losses, I hope the vendors and everyone else coming to the show were
lucky too.

As Kenni wrote, no Fort Pierce show, but the Brevard County show is on for
November. Meanwhile, it wouldn't hurt to support our local vendors with a
visit and a purchase, as many of them have been severely impacted by the
storms.

Orchid Island (Bill Hill) is in your neck of the woods. Kenni is in Palm
Beach Gardens. Odom's is on Jenkins Rd. (off rt. 70) in Fort Pierce. All
three have suffered losses and could sure use a boost. Lazy Daze is in Palm
City, and I know they really got hammered. Don't know if they are open for
business or not.

And if you are looking for an orchid 'fix', join us at the Port St. Lucie
Orchid Society meeting on Tuesday, October 12th. It will be at the Yacht
Club in River Park, 500 Prima Vista Blvd, Port St. Lucie, 1 PM. Kenni is
the featured speaker and I will be doing an orchid clinic (might turn into a
therapy session!). You can come as a visitor; all welcome. We have many
members from Vero and Fort Pierce.

Aaarrggh! That thread was going on when Frances was imminent! I have
posted a pic of me before in earlier threads, but will try to get a new
photo soon. What would you like? Moi with my cast in front of my face, or
moi with the ripped pool screen in the background? How about moi with the
orchids that have sunburn? Or maybe I could pose on the roof next to the
blue tarps....bright blue is fab with my hair color!

Hi, Dustin: I talked to Cheryl after Frances --Lazy Daze had survivable
damage at that point; I have not heard from them since Jeanne [phone service
here is still not entirely reliable]. As for us: We had some damage, and
it will be expensive, but we lost nothing truly irreplaceable. All humans
and critters are alive and mobile with only minor ailments [ant bites,
bumps, and bruises], the crop is good, my most precious personal belongings
are OK. Unlike Diana, I didn't even break any fingers G.

The north shadehouse roof has been replaced, and the water system has been
repaired. We are cleaned up enough to be open for business, but we may
look a little shabby for a while -- please bear with us. New side curtains
are on order, the rest of it will have to wait until we see some cash coming
in. Folks around here are, understandably, a little too busy with other
things to be in buying orchids ...
