Citrus grafts
Just goes to show, truth is stranger than fiction!
PvR MMMavocado schreef An interesting known periclinal chimera in citrus is the 'Thompson Pink' grapefruit. It's peel is genetically 'Marsh' white grapefruit, and its apomictic seeds always produce 'Marsh' trees. But the middle layer, which produces the edible pulp, makes the pink pigment (lycopene) that 'Marsh' does not. 'Burgundy' grapefruit, a very much darker-colored variety, is also likely a periclinal chimera of the same type. |
