Default Bathroom Flange

Has anyone used a bathroom flange for a bottom drain? I am contemplating
switching my Greg Bickal's Boot/EPDM/Bottom Drain plan for a
Permalon/Bathroom Flange bottom drain. Any thoughts? The pond is plumbed
with 4 inch PVC if that matters at all.

I don't use it for a bottom drain but I use a pair of them in my 55 gallon
drum upflow filter system and they worked out great.

We have them, in pairs (Ring and flat lift ring) on all our kiddie pools and
on the EDPM veggie filters. We have sealed the joints with tar. No leaks,
5 years.

Do they make them in a size that will attache to 4 inch PVC? I think I need
a trip to Home Depot tonight.

Hey BV, try Graham's site: he's a great DIY'er from Nova Scotia. This is the
style that I'm using in that 3,000 gal. tank I'm building in the back yard.

Scroll down to find some of his projects. This is a step-by-step with
photos, so you should like it!
