When we made ours instead of using a toilet flange we used two shower
drains. They come complete with the perforated grates. We already had two
lines going back to the top of the header pond. Problem is a lot of air is
also going down the lines and we keep getting burping noises. Any ideas on
how to stop this?

Hmmmm maybe a small vent pipe in the drain pipe?

Well, dunno really...was thinking of the vents in the plumbing of a
house...

Wonder if Skippy's site could have any suggestions?

a few inches or so to vent the air would do the trick for you?

I know what you mean about venting plumbing. This seems vented okay as the
water runs fine. It's the venting (carrying air with the water) that's
causing the noise. The upside is that I can hear this inside the house and
know the system is running. :)

Old filter had pressurized 1 1/4" inlet and two 1 1/4" outlets. The filter
would always overflow on start-up until the air got out of the lines.

New filter has same pressure coming in. Outlets are two shower drains that
are about 3" across then reduced back to the 1 1/4" lines. Both lines are
at the same height.

Both lines empty just above the water line of the pond at the top of the
stream. I'm thinking if I could extend those under the water maybe that
would help.

Thoughts??

We also just built a Skippy filter and started it up Monday night. My water
had been murky, only being able to see down maybe a foot. WOW this morning,
right to the bottom 4' down. I don't think the media is doing too much yet.
It must be the settling chamber. I do have a fine blanket filter as the top
filter media with WH in the very top.

Very impressed with this design.
