Default what kind of algae is this?

We usually get a problem with string algae, but now we have an overgrowth of
algae that is more like cotton batting! The fish are getting caught in it.
It looks really gross too.

It could be blue green algae which is caused
by too much organic matter in the pond.
Can you post some more about your fish
load, filtering, when the last time you cleaned
it out, any water test readings?

=============================
For the first time I have the same type in my 800 gallon pond. No fish are
getting caught in it, but it is unsightly and seemed to just suddenly appear
the other day. I have to remove it today before it takes over the shallow
end.
