Default Seedlings

I planted some seeds in a starter tray and put it on top of the freezer in the garage. After just 4 days, I checked just to see if there was any activity at all yet, and found some seedlings already well over an inch tall and spindly (I imagine looking for sun). These suckers were not supposed to germinate for several more days.

Anyway, can these tall, spindly babies be healthy anyway? (And how can plants germinate soooo much faster that the packages say? Other plants also germinated in the same tray that were not supposed to show for at least 2 weeks!)
