Potting basics: when to transplant?
I took a cutting from a shrub about 2 months ago and potted it up. It
has rooted nicely, but is obviously still a small plant. Question: Can I safely transfer this to the garden over the next few weeks, so it can get established prior to winter. Or should I leave it in the pot outside over the winter? Bruce |

What kind of shrub is it? Assuming it's a hardy plant. I would plant it out now if it has a good bunch of roots. It should take off OK. With the proviso that it might be a good idea to cover it if its first winter gets severe. Steve |

If those are your only two choices I would plant....if you do not plant
suggest at least 'plant' the pot so that the roots get some protection from the surrounding soil......H wrote in message ps.com... I took a cutting from a shrub about 2 months ago and potted it up.
