Default Growing in the shade...

I have a west facing garden and would love to grow some veg this year. My
neighbour to my south has 11 foot high fir trees along the boundry which
puts half my garden in the shade for the whole day. Is there anything that i
can grow in this area or am i restricted to using the sunny half only..

Thanks
Nick

celery / angelica ?

Maybe while you're at it, maybe you could grow some giant hogweed (a
particularly inedible relative of those two) in the hope it self-seeds in
his garden ;-)
