Need to water in SE England
The message
from "Rupert" contains these words: /snip/ I saw this stuff for sale the year before last at a local garden centre. It really was lesser celandine I was not getting confused with all the other look alikes. Good. I like to see celandines, and they're fairly easily contained. I've got my eye on a couple of plants I saw last year growing under a hedge and forgot to ask the owner whether I could have some seed (until it was too late) - they're Ranunculacae, celandine-like, but much larger - however, I don't think they are kingcups. I have not visited that garden centre this year but it would not surprise me if they are selling ground elder :-) I'm about to cram a couple of planters with ground elder. I use it quite a lot in cooking, but where it is ATM I could well do without. -- Rusty Men love women, women love children, children love hamsters. (Alice Thomas Ellis) |

Went to the allotment this morning and the rain gauge had 1.5mm. Total for the year so far - 37.5mm. We have had a respectable amount of rain over the last two or three days. I understand some areas have had a bit more. -- Rusty Men love women, women love children, children love hamsters. (Alice Thomas Ellis) |

Maybe if I treated it as a crop I would get rid of it.Well it worked with the asparagus :-(( Steve |

from "shazzbat" contains these words: /ground elder/ How is it used in cooking? You pick the young leaves and stems and cook them like you would spinach. Or chop them and add them to stews, casseroles, etc. If you have something wather bland and you want to add some flavour - like greengrocer's' parsnip's (sorry, could'nt re'sist it!), you can cook the leaves with the 'snips. The flavour is said to be a bit rank after flowering, but I don't let them flower... Maybe if I treated it as a crop I would get rid of it.Well it worked with the asparagus :-(( I have to go out in the nearby fields looking for Chenopodia. Or if the weather is a bit off, I look in the deep-freeze instead. -- Rusty Direct reply to: horrid dot squeak snailything zetnet point co period uk Separator in search of a sig |
