Default When to cut a wildflower patch?

We have just sown wildflower seeds. Down came the rain three hours
afterwards and now the sun is beating down on the ground . . . so we're
hoping for a blaze of colour eventually.

I read somewhere that wildflower meadows need to be trimmed or cut back.
Can anyone tell me when?

Ellie.
