4. Who is trolling here?

b. Alan J Holmes

He is a fairly cautious troll, since he has a university account
) and they are often more responsible than commercial
ISPs. However, he still manages to post a great deal of abuse to both
regulars and advertisers on this newsgroup. He specialises in telling
lies about what people have done or said in the past, in the hope that
they will rise to the bait and post corrections.

I've never heard of Alan J Holmes. Alan Holmes,

The Alan J Holmes mentioned above and the Alan Holmes that posts here
are the same person.

who several people think is a troll, is not.

Wrong. He is a troll and a pervert. Just look up his posts on Google.

Has Alan J Holmes posted here?

Yes.

As you seem to know so much about this Alan Holmes, perhaps you could let me
have a list of these unfortunate women who have received these discussing
emails from me?

I won't hold my breath, and having written all this, I wonder why I
bothered!

Why are you posting as Mary?

Don't you find it just a little ironic, Mary, that someone posting
from an anonymous address should make such an accusation?

I certainly do...

I'm lost, Anne. Do you mean you think it's a member of this group
hiding
behind a sock puppet but persecuting Alan?

I don't know, Sacha, but I think it's questionable, to say the least,
when
someone posts from an anonymous address to make accusations against one
of
our regular posters...who's the troll, in this case?

Good question. Just what we need - another troublemaker. Any ideas? We
have some serious computer experts here so perhaps they can track it
down.

Both Alan and Holmes are reasonably common names. I have twice in my life
found
myself sharing a doctors surgery list with someone who has the same first
name
and surname as me. Alan J Holmes appears to be posting genuinly from
brunel
university and it is difficult to imagine getting such an account unless
you
were a student or member of staff there.

Just out of interest, is this Alan J Holmes still posting from a brunel
account?

When was the last message he posted?

But not everyone does know, I suspect, and someone has to point out that
the
real Alan Holmes is one of us.

Whatever that means :-)

I've met him and his wife, he is adorable and believe me, he is very
much a gardener.

I'll second that. He came to the first meet I held which was at my old
house. I think you had the caravan then, Alan, and Kay and family camped
on
the lawn while Cormaic and co. slept in the house. Some past and present
urglers were at that one - it was a lot of fun, as was the next, held
here.
I really must try to organise my time next year and see if we can do
another
one....

I'd love to come to another meet, but unfortuately I've had to get rid of
the caravan, and would hiave to find a room in a house somewhere.

Well, if we do hold one here, our rooms are promised but there is a v. good
b&b in the village and another a very short drive away. I'll let you know
but not until next year now!

You used to post to newsgroups (and troll and send dirty emails) under
the name "Alan J Holmes" from a Brunel University account and if you try
to deny that FACT, not only are you a troll and a pervert, but you're a
LIAR too!

Anyway, I've revealed *all* about you in another post.
