The Gradens on Madeira
We visited Madeira whilst on a cruise in the early part of the year and
missed out on visiting the Gardens, so when we called in recently whilst cruising on Cunard's new Queen Victoria, we took the Cable Car to the top and were confronted with a conundrum. We thought, along with many others, that there was only one 'Gardens' at the top. No. The Tropical Gardens are near the top of the Cable Car, to visit the Botanical Gardens, one has to take another Cable Car back halfway down!! So if you are visiting Madeira and wish to visit the BOTANICAL GARDENS, approach it from the bottom, possibly by Taxi, and save time and money :-)) Thought someone might like to know that :-) Mike -- www.rnshipmates.co.uk for ALL Royal Navy Association matters www.rneba.org.uk. Can you post some more off-putting remarks about cruising and see if we can get the queues to cruise down a bit? Cruising has now become so popular that we have to book well over a year in advance to secure decent cabins :-( This last one on Queen Victoria was planned well over 2 years ago because I wanted 5 Staterooms. I took all the Family with me to celebrate Christmas, our Golden Wedding and the New Year. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo popular :-( Next Winter we are cruising New Zealand and Australia and had to book that ages ago. :-(( Mike -- www.rnshipmates.co.uk for ALL Royal Navy Association matters www.rneba.org.uk. Can't you understand that we are all sick and tired of hearing about your cruises? Have a look at the earlier thread 'As forecast' and see what everyone thinks about you amd your continual boasting. Please book yourself a permanent cabin and stop bothering us here. Thank you. |

There are those on this newsgroup who 'claim' to use the kill file facility. Might I respectfully suggest that if you are so paranoid about my postings, that you actually "USE" said facility? I feel sure that http://www.globalretreatcentre.org.u...ayretreats.htm would help you with your understanding and tolerance of other human beings. Kindest possible regards I feel you have missed the point, 'Mike'. Consider this newsgroup to be a garden path, and that something unpleasant has been left in the middle of it by an animal. The proper solution is to remove the obstruction, rather than to expect everyone to walk on the garden to avoid it. As Fuschia pointed out, there are a number of people who are tired of your continual self-promotion and diversions from real gardening discussions. I include myself in that number. |

One could spend the best part of a day in the Monte gardens alone. But I must say that we liked the Blandy gardens even more - possibly because they're more English in style, do you think? Liz is right about the cable car! We took it but I really didn't like it, especially when it swung a bit as it went over the runner thingies, or over a deep gorge. I've used dozens of cable cars when skiing but somehow, being in one that isn't above the snow that I ridiculously imagine will cushion my fall, made me very uncomfortable. There is a spectacular cable car that runs from Cairns to Kuranda in Queensland which just skims over the tops of the rainforest trees. A must for any plants person. -- Regards Bob Hobden |
