Sadly, nothing new. If you look at the Wollemi Pine in Wakehurst, you'll
find it's "in jail" to deter those with sticky fingers.

A couple of years ago Ventnor Botanic Gardens microchipped tree ferns due to
continued theft.

Yes, it is. But this is where newsgroups can be so useful. Spread the word
among relevant groups and friends and who knows.....?

In this case, it is a plant that I think you can just buy in garden
centres or buy seed from the usual places. What a waste. It really
makes me sad when this happens.
