Default Daffodil mystery

ROFL

I am just trying to visualise the sort of response this thread would
have evoked in 'uk.rec.natural-history'.

The conservationists would be yelling blue murder at the
indiscriminate release of non-native species.

I know of one 'Protected Roadside Verge' which has been sullied with
the introduction of garden releases. Yet I'll bet there are precious
few gardners prepared to tolerate the poor native daffodil.

Gardeners are free to populate their 'little bit of heaven' with
whatever they so desire. But it is a pity that some feel the need to
annex the great natural outdoors as an extension of their garden which
not all will appreciate.

I passed through one village a couple of years back which had a notice
on the verge saying 'Please don't pick the daffs.' 20 yards further on
was another notice saying 'Please, please, please pick as many daffs
as you want!'
