Funny but I could never see, or hear, what the fuss was all about. Thought
his "singing" was boring, his gyrations pathetically childish even and it
hasn't improved with time.

Oh. I wouldn't agree there. He had a good voice although some of his
later stuff was dreadful.

Are you serious? What sort of music did you like in the '60's? I love
classical music but have to admit to liking the Beatles, Stones and
other groups in the '60's. I suppose anyone older than 30 at the time
may have a job liking the music.

I heard when Elvis was alive he actually tried to plant some of his
prescription meds in hope of producing more. I don't know if there's any
truth in the tabloid papers about him passing away with his head in the
toilet while bobbing for apples but who really knows the real truth.

Agreed same as the beatles

No, the Beatles were amazing, new, innovative, copied by many, loved by all
generations and their many songs sung by all and sundry, they certainly have
stood the test of time.

If he had not died relatively young I think he would have faded away.

there was a lot more to the 60s than the beatles I prefered the rnb and the
tamla motown that many uk groups tried to emulate . Imho the only band that
came close were the small faces

Couldn't agree more, was never into Elvis or his UK counterpart.
Not until the Beatles and Stones came along did the spark come alive or
maybe just my age at the time?

There's a garden over in Ballinger (Bassibones Farm) whose owner has a
four-poster bed in her front garden with a topiary cut mattress and
pillow in the middle. ,

At the Crossing House Garden over in Cambridgeshire (was in NGS) they
have a sleigh and a lot of unusual topiary formed shrubs.

Mind you that garden is well worth a visit for it's uniqueness and the
way the owner just allows people to wander round it whenever they want.
Beautiful and packed full of interesting plants.

For Elvis I would plant up a pair of blue suede shoes
But it would be easier to plant one for Lonnie Donagan you would just
need
7 Golden daffodils http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3QJmLS_YQo
