Default feeding bulbs in pots

I just don't seem to have got this right. My daffs etc, in pots,
never multiply, only fade away.

WHAT feed should I use? Tomorite, Vitax, Phostrogen?
WHEN should I feed? Once flowers have faded or before?
How about feeding when they start into growth?
Any advice gratefully accepted.

I never have much joy with bulbs in the ground either. They bloom the
first year and seldom reappear. Clay soil. Small garden hence mostly
miniature daffs.

In the ground I use Growmore and in pots chicken poo pellets, both once the
foliage is grown, so now. Usually the lack of repeat flowering of Daffs in
the ground is that they have not been planted deep enough or, in time, they
have become overcrowded.
