Strawberry fungal problem?
I've noticed that the new leaves on some of my plants are affected by
what appears to be a rot, which starts from the edge of the leaves and works inwards killing the whole leaf eventually. I had this trouble last year which resulted in the death of nearly half my plants. The affected plants have been growing strongly and produced plenty of flowers.I can't see anything on the web which resembles the symptoms exactly, which seem to have suddenly shown up in the last 2 days. The affected plants are all neighbouring ones in a trough. I have other strawberry plants in another container several feet away from the problem and so far they have not been affected. I've decided to spray the affected plants with systemic fungicide while the problem is in its early stages. I'm not sure whether the problem is soil or airborne. The photos of the symptoms are shown below. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, please? http://tinyurl.com/3jtkw9q http://tinyurl.com/3nynq9l |

Fungicides are better at preventing problems than curing them. Your pictures are good but you didn't show the back of the leaf, many problems develop on the backs of the leaves and only later show on the upper surface. Sp when spraying make sure you catch the underside as well as the tops of the leaves. |

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron. - Dwight D. Eisenhower, 16 April 1953 |
