can anyone name this bush/tree please.

Cherry laurel, Prunus laurocerasus. Has very attractive but poisonous purple berries. I spent a happy childhood playing in a large laurel tree, so I've always had a soft spot for them, although they are rather large and hard to control.

Cherry laurel. I think it may be one of the cultivated variants, and
I've never discovered their taxonomic status.

[Cherry laurel in the narrow sense is Prunus laurocerasus.
Portugal laurel is Prunus lusitanica.]
